In the book "Cotton's Keepsake" about Dearborn County Indiana "It was said the Page Cheek was on a boat when Cholera broke out and he had to throw the men overboard. He contacted the disease and died. Many family members attending the funeral also came down with Cholera and died".
This was in 1833. Now remember the crowded conditions on boats (probably a river boat) the sanitary conditions etc. Much disease was brought to this country and to the states via this method. I thought this was interesting because I always thought they burned the bodies of those with Cholera.
