This book has no cover, and no index, and no author. I bought it on Ebay; it just has the insides, but it is full of Indiana biographies. I am not researching this family, just thought I would share. I do not know anymore about these families or these surnames. NOTE: I don’t know if there is any additional mention of this family in the book, it has no index. I do not want to sell this book. I am typing the biographies from it.

MOSES EPSTEIN is one of Frankfort’s oldest business men, with a record of over half a century of constructive work in commercial affairs and as a civic leader, and his generosity and devotion to the public welfare have caused him to be appointed again and again to responsible positions in the state service. Mr. Epstein was born at Aurora, Dearborn County, Indiana, July 5, 1852, son of Zachariah and Marianne (Steinhart) Epstein. His father was born in 1818, in Luxemburg, Germany, came to this country in 1845 and died in 1887. He was a merchant. Moses Epstein was educated in Louisville, Kentucky, and on April 6, 1876, began his career as a merchant in Frankfort, Indiana. He has to his credit many outstanding services in general community welfare. In 1886 he was made secretary of the Frankfort & State Line Railroad Company, owning and operating a road that is now part of the Nickel Plate System. Mr. Epstein is a former president of the!
Frankfort Lyceum League, which many years ago brought to Frankfort the influences of noted speakers, lecturers and musicians. Mr. Epstein has served as chairman of the State Joint Purchasing Committee. In 1911 Gov. Thomas R. Marshall one of the trustees of the Northern Indiana Hospital appointed him for the Insane at Logansport, and for many years has been president of the board. He was successively appointed by Governor Ralston, by Governor Goodrich, Gov. Warren T. McCray, and on April 10, 1927, by Governor Jackson. Mr. Epstein has been president of the Clinton County Children’s Guardian Board and Clinton County Board of Charities since 1895. He was a member of the executive committee of the Indiana State Conference of Charities and Corrections in 1921-22, was a director of the Frankfort Chamber of Commerce from 1915 to 1925, and in 1917 was appointed Clinton County director of the United States Boys’ Working Reserve for special war service.!
He was appointed by the board of county commissioners a trustee of the Clinton County Hospital and was president of the board during the erection and equipment of the hospital. Mr. Epstein has been deeply interested in Indiana history and has been the means of promoting general interest in the work done by the Indiana State Historical Society, of which he is a member. He is affiliated with the Knights of Pythias and B. P. 0. Elks. Mr. Epstein married at Washington, D. C., March 27, 1889, Miss Henrietta Gradwohl, daughter of Leopold Gradwohl. Mrs. Epstein passed away December 26, 1902, leaving two children, Mrs. Miriam Bamberger, who has two children, and Jerome, of Dayton, Ohio, who is married and has one son.
