This book has no cover, and no index, and no author. I bought it on Ebay; it just has the insides, but it is full of Indiana biographies. I am not researching this family, just thought I would share. I do not know anymore about these families or these surnames. NOTE: I don’t know if there is any additional mention of this family in the book, it has no index. I do not want to sell this book. I am typing the biographies from it.

CRAWFORD ALBERT PETERS. Not only has Crawford A. Peters won distinction in the learned profession of the law that makes him a leading member of the Dearborn County bar, but during the World war he proved himself a brave and able soldier and is today a first lieutenant in the Air Service Officers Reserve Corps. He was born at Aurora, Indiana, in 1895, a son of Frederick A. and Ida May Peters, the former of whom was in young manhood a mechanic, but since 1891 has been a merchant of Aurora. His father, Jacob Peters, was born in Alsace-Lorraine, France, but came to the United States and settled in Indiana in 1851. For years he was in the contracting business in Dearborn County, and had the contract for the building of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church and other large churches in this region, as well as schools and public buildings. A man of prominence, he served as a member of the City Council of Aurora for a number of years. Frederick A. Peters was born at Aurora, !
in 1858, and has made his home in this city ever since, and through his business relations has become known all over the county. Three children have been born to him and his wife: Cecil, who is deceased; Rebecca, who married Harry Richards; and Crawford A., who is the youngest. Born of a lineage that is rooted in the soil of that portion of Europe over which France and Germany have waged mighty wars, reared by a godly father and mother in a home where luxury and idle hands were not supposed to have a place, Crawford A. Peters early resolved to make the most of his opportunities, and after he had completed the courses of the Aurora public schools, entered Lebanon University. From there he was graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Arts, and he secured his degree of Bachelor of Laws from the Cincinnati. Law School, in 1919. Mr. Peters was admitted to the Dearborn County bar in 1917, and in 1920 was elected prosecuting attorney of the Seventh Judicial District. Late!
r, in 1925-26, he served in the same office by appointment of the gove
rnor, and in it made a most enviable record. During the same period, 1925-26, he served as city attorney of Aurora, and from 1922 to 1929, inclusive, he has served Center Township as township attorney, and still occupies that office. In 1930 he was reelected city attorney for a four-year term. In 1920 he was admitted to practice in the United States District Court and the Supreme Court of Indiana. He is of a strong individualistic type. This is his characteristic, and the roots of it run far back. As he is so were his forebears. ‘The fiber of industry, thrift and strong patriotism they transmitted to him he has strengthened. Noble in impulse, gentle and kindly in counsel, kindly in controversy, there is certain largeness in his vision and broadness in his convictions that clothe him with power among his colleagues. In September, 1917, Mr. Peters enlisted in the air service of the army, at Wilbur Wright Field, Dayton, Ohio, from whence he was sent to !
the University of Texas, Austin, in December, 1917, and remained there until April, 1918, when he was graduated from the School of Military Aeronautics. He was then transferred to Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he completed his training in June, 1918. Going then to Grand Lake, Louisiana, he was instructed in advanced aerial gunnery, after which he was instructor in aerial gunnery at Taliaferro Field, Fort Worth, Texas, until August, 1918, and he completed his period of service at Langley Field, Houghton, Virginia. Following the armistice he was honorably discharged, and, returning to his law studies, completed them, as already stated. Mr. Peters married Miss Lessie Englert, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana. They have one daughter, Theresa (Fessie) Ann, born November 4, 1929. Professionally he maintains membership with the Dearborn County Bar Association and the Indiana State Bar Association. His fraternal affiliations are with Aurora Lodge No. 51, A. F. and A. M., the Knights of Py!
thias, Improved Order of Red Men, the Modern Woodmen of America and th
e Junior Order United American Mechanics. He is a member of the local post, No. 281, of the American Legion, and was its first post commander.
