Hi Gail,

My ggrandfather, Henry Robert Ranney (b. 1849), had a brother, Robert (b. 1844), & their father was also Robert (b. 1812). They are on the 1850 Gaines, NY Census.

Robert, jr. was born 1844 in NY. Would he be the Robert you are looking for?

I know that Henry moved to Fort Wayne, IN. where he married Elizabeth Mathie abt. 1870 & had my grandfather, Robert Henry Feb. 2, 1872. It's possible they could have moved to Dearborn Co. before then or perhaps only Robert moved there.

There is another Robert Ranney who lived in VT. He married Anna Livingston(e). She may have been his second wife. But, I am not sure if he is the Robert I am looking for either.
