I know NOTHING about this family, but just reading this post I am wondering.
Is there any chance that you are dealing with two different women named
Catherine. When you say five list as mother as Ott, are these the oldest five?
The youngest five? or intermingled. If it is the oldest five, I might
suspect there are two women.

This may be a wild idea, but if you cannot discount it, it might be a clue.
