Lawrenceburg Register, Feb 11 1897
JIMMIE MCMULLEN, an old army scout, was found frozen to death at Pella on Wednesday morning. He was in town Monday to draw his pension and imbibed too freely. He was seen here late Monday night, but was found on the roadside by J N Slater near Pella Tuesday morning and taken to F J Nowlin's house. After being warmed it was thought he would be all right. On Wednesday morning, however, he was found dead as the result of his exposure. Jimmie was a well known character about town, but has been living near Pella for several years. He is said to have been one of the famous Gen. Custer's men and with whom he engaged in several Indian wars.

Lawrenceburg Register Feb 16 1897
