Subject: [INDEARBO] Turner Cemetery in Dearborn County
Date: Sat, 28 Oct 2006 13:44:30 -0400
Your response to another’s question caught my interest. This person had asked about a Turner cemetery in Dearborn County. This cemetery is located on Wilkerson Road near Cold Springs. I have been looking for the burial site of my (several greats) Grandfather, William Turner. He came from England in 1819, received a land grant from President Monroe and farmed on that land which is approximately a half mile from that cemetery. The census records show a number of William Turners through the years. I grew up in that neighborhood (County Line Road) and was never aware of this cemetery. Having walked a number of other cemeteries in this area and been unsuccessful, I am hoping this may his resting place. The hope of a description has certainly brightened the search. Just dates would be helpful.
My husband and I (both formerly of Moores Hill) have lived in Michigan since 1973. We are both looking for our ancestors. This brings me to my second point. I have encountered several references to Masing’s cemetery records, Vol. C. I am wondering if copies of this volume are for sale? I read that he donated a copy to Carnegie Hall. Since my husband’s family is entrenched in Sparta, this would be most helpful for both of us. I just thought you might know of availability.
Thank you for any information or for sending me on to someone else for help.
