Hi Cheryl,
Do you know the parents of your Maude, born in 1879 at Colfax Township,
Oceana County, MI. I know they are related to my Sarah Jane Draggoo who
was born in 1841 in Concord Township, Dekalb County, IN. Her parents were
Peter and Nancy Williams Draggoo, Peter the son of Frederick. Could your
Maude be the daughter of Albert or Thomas, not sure about Thomas, but Albert
certainly came north to Oceana County. He was also married to my
gggrandfather's sister Sarah Miller. Albert and Thomas were siblings to my
Sarah.
Sarah had married Henry Fetters in Dekalb and their son Thomas Fetters
married Mary Miller. Both these last two were born in DeKalb, but didn't
get married until both were in Oceana or Newaygo County, MI. I do not know
if they knew each other in Indiana.
Sarah Draggoo came north after the death of Henry Fetters in 1870, arriving
after 1880 in Michigan likely to be with Draggoo relatives.
If you notice, Sarah spelled with 2 g's as did many of Frederick's
descendents. I do get to Oceana County a few times each year, as my aunt
still is there.
