Hi, my name is Aubrey Ballantine. I was born in Bombay, India in 1939, and
moved to England and then to Canada. On my fathers side, the first
Ballantine came out to India around 1818 from Burntisland in Scotland. Four
generations of Ballantines lived in India up until the time I left in 1959.
On my side of the family I have mainly Scottish, English and Anglo-Indian
ancestry. My wife (nee Rondo) also comes from the Indian sub continent, and
has mainly English, Portuguese and Anglo-Indian ancestry. I have listed the
surnames of both our families.

About ten years ago I decided to research my roots. I was fortunate enough
to have a family bible (from my fathers side) handed down to me, as it
listed many births, marriages and deaths. From the entries I gathered that
the bible probably originated around the middle of the last century.
However, some of the pages had dilapidated over time, and many entries were
not discernable. Using this information as a starting point, I subsequently
spent a fair bit of time (and money for micro-films, etc!) at the LDS family
history library, where I not only confirmed the many entries in the bible,
but also discovered a significant number of new relatives and information.
Other information has been derived from writing to living (especially older)
relatives, and from India Office Records (British Library) on Blackfriars
Road in London, whenever I've had occasion to visit England.

Here is the list of surnames connected with both my wife's and my family tree's:

Aubrey Ballantine
