So many names coming up here each day, so few that I have heard of... Has
anyone heard of any of these I wonder...?
This is a list of miscellaneous people connected with the lives of my
ancestors. Most of them, unless otherwise stated, were in the Madras presidency.

ANDERSON James- natural father of Francis Anderson who married
Nebuchadnezzar Lee.

ARBUTHNOT G. - subsribing member of the Soc. for Promoting Christian
Know-ledge, 1840.

ARBUTHNOT and Co. Messrs - Agents for the isles of Ceylon, French and Dutch
settlements on the Coromandel Coast and Victuallars for H.M. Navy. There
name appears on the Council of State for India; Employers of George Emanuel
Johnston and Peter Carstairs; treasurers of the Society for Promot-ing
Christian Knowledge.

GARDINER Mary Bruce - born 1782/3 of a Mohammedan woman and Lieut. Gardner,
an ensign. [N2/11/43] De facto wife of Peter Bruce and later Nebuchadnezzar
Lee.

LEE Nebuchadnezzar - father of Mary Lee; belonged to the army, but
afterwards kept a day/boarding school in Semboodoss Street; schoolmaster of
George Emanuel Johnston. died 4.8.1810 [N2/4/85]

LEE Mary - a.k.a. Mary Bruce Gardiner; de-facto wife of Nebuchadnezzar Lee,
and later of Peter Bruce.
