Col.Garrow Waterfield is mentioned four times in Lord Fred.Roberts'
"4l Years in India". As Commissioner of Peshawar, he was Political
Adviser to Roberts with the Kuram Field Force,1878, and" an old friend
and schoolfellow."

Lieut.William Waterfield, (c.1836-1857) is buried on The Ridge, near
the Flagstaff Tower at Delhi. Col.William Garrow Waterfield, tablet in
St.John's Church, Peshawar. Memorial inscriptions and career details
are contained in "Soldiers of the Raj" compiled by G.W.de Rhe-Philipe
and M.Irving; and the M.I. for the latter Waterfield is also in
"Peshawar Monumental Inscriptions 11" by Susan Maria Farrington, pub. by
B.A.C.S.A., London, 1991.
