These inscriptions are contained in a book not unlike the more
substantial 'Bengal Obituary' (published for the British Assoc. for
Cemeteries in South Asia I think)

The Thornhill name was not in the index. But the John Bensley(Bensby)
Thornhill name was in the
abovementioned 'Bengal Obit'..maybe you already have the info but here
goes:
At North Park Street Burial Ground Calcutta.-

Sacred to the memory of John Bensby Thornhill,
H.C Civil Service, born on the 27th May 1808
died on the 15th April 1844, aged 36.
A line, ----------

Then sacred to ..etc.
Cudbert Thornhill Sealy Esq
of the Bengal Civil Service
b.on the 2nd Nov 1778, died 10th Oct 1844,
aged 66 years.

On the same page - I copied the page of these if you want them..
Captain Cudbert Thornhill, esq. - lots on him.died 1809 in his 68th
year.
Late Master Attendant of the Port of Calcutta.
The whole of the marine establishment attended the funeral.

also John Nathaniel Sealy 1777-1815
his brother Major Charles Sealy 1775-1820
W.H.Sealy Esq, died 1800 aged 18 (many lines on his virtues)
also in the Roman Catholic Cathedral ( I presume, Calcutta)

daughter of the late Cudbert Thornhill Esq.
formerley Master Attendant of Calcutta
d 15.1.1833 &
Maria Ursula Thornhill, lady of the late
Cudbert Thornhill d 18.5. 1798

with Ann Showers lady of Capt Samuel Stone Showers
interred at Patna 4 May1778 aged 25
