Following Christine's interest in the EIR, let me remind readers that I
have a copy of 'Bengal Engineeer' by Peter VAUX , about the engineer Alfred
Harris VAUX who did much to build the railway. There are many names in
this collection of letters sent by Vaux to England between 1850-1873,
including of course the period of the Mutiny. However, I have not spotted a
WHALEY. Nor are my DYER and DUNCAN ancestors in the EIR mentioned, but
they did not move in Civil engineering or government circles as Vaux did.
