His wife was the eldest daughter of James and Susannah Gibson of
Dacca.
Paymaster of the Army of North India, under the Commander-In-Chief,
Lord Gough, in the year 1846.
For distinguished services both in INDIA and CHINA he received the
"Companion of the Bath" and the First Sikh War and Nankin medals. He
took part in three decisive battles in the country of the Punjuab, and
was wounded in the battle of Chillian-Wallah and was sent to England
never having recovered from his wounds. Herbert John Wilson , a
descendent, resident of Port Macquarie presented to the Hastings
District Historical Society, a lithograph of the Singing of the Treaty
of Nankin in which the above Lt Colonel Wilson is depicted with the
assembled party.
