Dear Alan
Aside from the noted biographies of Robert Clive senior (Bence-Jones, M
Clive of India, 1974; Chaudhuri, N.C. Clive of India, 1975; Forrest, G.W.
life of Lord Clive, 1918, etc) he has a relative, Peter Holt (b. 1956) who
has written a very interesting and amusing book of his attempt to tread in
his ancestors footprints "In Clive's Footsteps"Hutchinson, 1990. Contacting
the author would obviously be an excellent source of information regarding
the Clives. I am not sure how you go about this, but I note that Peter
Holt is also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society which may be one
clue.
