I think that is an excellent deduction with which I agree almost. '1st M
bde' is probably 1st Madras Brigade - not 1st battalion Madras Brigade. At
that time there were usually four battalion to a brigade in the British
Army and they were known by there names or Regimant numbers, not 1st, 2nd
etc. Usually Artillery was a Brigade Artillery not a battalion Artillery,
as that would have meant mixing arms and the British Army had a great
reluctance to doing that, even in WWII !
Otherwise an excellent deduction.
