Hi all

THOMAS (TOM) LAWRIE

I'm trying to find any trace of my grandmother's uncle Thomas (Tom) Lawrie.
Born in Dundee, Scotland in 1879, Tom was the son of John Lawrie and Mary
McLennan.
>From what I understand from family members, Tom was out in Calcutta in the
1920's working in a jute mill when he met and subsequently married either
an Anglo Indian or an Indian. This, it seems, was frowned upon by the
company he worked for and was asked to leave, whereupon, he took himself
"up country" according to the family. When my Grandmother's sister was out
in Calcutta in the 1940's, she tried to track down Tom, but although he was
remembered, nobody could say where he was.

This is all very sketchy information, but I hope someone might be able to
shed a little light on a corner of my family history.

Thanks

Andrew
