This is my first attempt at presenting information to you all, so please
bear with me! It covers a great deal, but primarily interested in
following the HEATHCOTE line.

I hope to trace the Samuel HEATHCOTE family to present day.

Samuel HEATHCOTE, a cotton spinner from Ashford/Ashton (?) traveled to
India at the age of 15, January 24, 1813 on board the HEIC's military
ship The Winchelsea to serve "unlimited service". (info. from BFA
#1835691. India-BFA-Military Records-Embarkation Lists 1810-1816)

Samuel HEATHCOTE married Elizabeth MURRAY in 1823 (Book 9/ p.482). Their
children : Mary Ann b. 1824; William b. 1826; James b. 1830; Samuel b.
1833.

In 1834, he married Sarah LITTLEWOOD (Book 17/ p.27 .Their children:
Matthew b. 1837; Sarah b.& d. 1839.

In 1841, he married Jane GODDIN(G) in Vizagapatam on 13th Sept.. He a
widower in the Carnatic European Veteran Battalion. She a spinster, Indo
Briton, daughter of James GODDIN, Gunner Horse Arty and wife Mary.
Witnessed by Thomas ROWE, Amelia ROWE and Eliza SHAW. (p. 387 of
Chaplains Marriages. Vol. 20/387).

In 1863, Robert HEATHCOTE was born. (VOL. 45/ p. 24). March 4, 1889 in
St. Mark's Church, North Black Town, Madras, he married Jane Wilhelmina
ASHWORTH daughter of John Wilmot ASHWORTH and Adeline Ruth (CHRISTIAN).
(VOL. 70 Fol.63 of Madras Marriage Index #0498588) They had nine
children .

Samuel Goddin HEATHCOTE b. 24th of July 1891.
He married twice. His second marriage was to Thelma Constance D'SYLVA,
daughter of William Robert D'SYLVA and Florence Adelaid on 26th February
1930 at Katajini (?), Church of Scotland, MADRAS. He was a changeman in
the SI Railway Machine Shop.

His first marriage was to Fanny (Mary Francis) PEDRO, daughter of
Christian PEDRO and Susana 5th of July 1916 at Wesleyan Methodist
Church, Negapaptam, South Indian in the presence of Amy PEDRO, J.S.
ROZARIO, S. PEDRO. (VOL. 120 Folio 92). They had two children, Robert
(Bobby) Geoffrey b. ? and Phyllis Theodora b. 7th November 1918 in
Negapatam., baptised in the Union Church, Podanur. (VOL. 124 Folio 134).

Phyllis Theodora married twice. First marriage to W. K.KNIGHT in Baghdad
1943. Her second marriage was to David JEW in Nottinghampshire, England.
She died 27 April 1954.

Phyllis Theodora was my mother. I am interested in knowing the
whereabouts of Robert Heathcote family.

Thank you for the opportunity, to perhaps, help others in their search
and to hopefully further mine.

P.S. I do have the Military Ship Winchelsea's Embarkation List of 24
January 1812 . I will post the names at a later date.(My daughter needs
the computor to do her homework!)
