Recently, 'was feasting my eyes on The Lighthorsemen... or actually, on all
those sturdy, brave Walers having had no water for 2+ days, going forwards
to take Beersheba.

Many a remount ship bound for India originated in Australia. Now, does
anyone know which cavalry units preferred what -- were Walers used by
everyone? or Irishbreds, Afghan-breds & others? I've been snooping through
sources on Skinner's Horse which mention every detail, down to what people
ate for lunch -- except what 'The Yellow Boys' happened to ride!

The not so cheery chapter in Horace Hayes veterinary notes, "diseases of
horses overseas", is not helpful, nor anything else I've run across. I
understand that Buxar was an important remount centre but haven't found a
reference to what was bred there.

Any ideas?
