My (somewhat belated) view is that for all sorts of reasons I'd be reluctant
to wear a badge! Wouldn't it be easier just to e-mail the list briefly to
say 'I'll be there on such-and-such a date" and to provide some kind of
recognisable ID feature - say, a red scarf, spotted tie or rose between the
teeth, depending on temperament and gender!? Then anyone else who plans to
be there at the same time can reply with plans to meet, if that's what
they'd like to do.
