Subject: WHEREABOUTS IN BENGAL WERE THE FORT GLOSTER MILLS /

Hi to fellow India researchers,
I have an ancestor Henry Laidlay whose headstone in India states:
" In Memory of Henry Laidlay, Esq. of the Fort Gloster Mills, died 17th April 1845, aged 28 years"
(details from the Bengal Obituary book)
I know from the Jute section of the India page that the Fort Gloster Mills produced jute (later on), does anyone
know:
1. If the Fort Gloster Mills were producing jute in the 1840's ?
2. Where exactly the Fort Gloster Mills were located in Bengal ?
3. Any ideas where I could locate employment records of the Fort Gloster Mills
to find out in what capacity Henry Laidlay was employed ?
4.. Anything about Henry Laidlay, or indeed the other Laidlay men in India around
this time, Thomas Laidlay, John Watson Laidlay or Andrew Laidlay who died
in Bengal aged 32 in 1843 ?
It would be wonderful if any of you out there could answer anyone of these queries? Thank you.
