Hello India-L,
Thank you Brinds for the information about the nursing unit. It was an interesting read (One of the many great reads from India-L members, don't you know! )
Since my mother and an aunt belonged to the British India Auxilliary Nurses, I was curious to know more. In the one and only letter from my aunt, she mentioned meeting a friend for tea at the Cowdray Club in London.
I did a tiny bit of research on the Cowdray Club. It was established in 1922 for nurses and professional women.. By 1986, the club had been absorbed into another group, the Naval and Military Club, whose address was shown as 94 Picadilly., London.
Perhaps, someone with more stick-to-itive-ness could find out where the Club's membership records ended up?
As always, good hunting everyone!
Phyllis
Researching: HEATHCOTE, JEW, GODDEN, ASHWORTH, PEDRO, RODRIGUES in the region of Podanur, Tamil Nadu, India.
