Jack CAÏLACHON
( Guadeloupe / French West Indies)

Hello,

Excuse my english .....But I am a frenchman, living in Guadeloupe ( French West Indies) and my english is very, very, very bad.

During the last third of the XIXth century, an emigration current of indian workers were organised by french government from french india ( mainly KARAIKAL for the matter of my genealogical investigations) to french west indian suggar cane fields ( mainly, GUADELOUPE concerning my family )

I know that my ancestor came from KARIKAL in Guadeloupe between 1863 and 1867. His surname was CAÏLACHON and he was hnown as EUGENE (first name). He was born in KARAIKAL in 1842 . His father's surname : Piqué - Tavin CAÏLACHON and his mother's first name and surname : Marie ATA.

However,In Guadeloupe he was not a field worker but an interpreter ( I suppose : Tamil / French)

I have not informations else these one that I found in his marriage act in Guadeloupe (1868)

Concerning "Piqué - Tavin Caïlachon" : I don't know if its the entire surname or if it is just CAÏLACHON and Piqué - Tavin a first name or other thing ( a second surname joined to Caïlachon ??) . But, it is sure that when he arrived in Guadeloupe the official surname of my ancestor was became, definitively, CAÏLACHON, whithout other word; and today my surname is CAÏLACHON

Can somebody help me in my genealogical investigation?

Thank you, and sincerely yours

Jack
