Hello,
I am new to this list. I am researching the name of WILLIAM BAZLEY, Lieutenant in the 1st Battalion of 14th Madras Native Infantry. He sailed for India on the
'Earl Howe' on 5th January 1805. He died in Murmagao (Marmagao) Goa on 2nd August 1808 where he is buried.

Is there anyone researching this name - I noticed a BAZELY in the names index - is it the same family? His family came from Okehampton in Devon, England.

Also, where can I find his army service records? Did they have any in 1805? If so, are they kept at Kew with the other more recent service records? Or at the India Office now the Oriental Studies office - I think.

Any information gratefully received.

Lesley Abraham,
Isle of Wight.
