Help required please:

I have a marriage record where the Rank or Profession given is a great puzzle. It's for a chap in Mandalay in 1905 and looks just like 'Myook'.
I've checked in Hobson-Jobson, so now I thought I'd ask the experts!

The chap getting married is Archibald VAILLANT, son of Julian William Vaillant. Cessie Vaillant is one of the witnesses.

Any Vaillant family out there?
