Hello,

Thomas Hervey Baber was a Magistrate engaged in suppressing a rebellion in Tellicherry in 1812. In an account of the period he is discribed as having a local bodyguard "Kulpilly Caranakera Menoen" "a Naire by birth"

His name was also given as Canarahmenoen, I imagine that this is very hard to translate ether from Tamil or vis a versa as the Tamil script is the most beautiful looking circles and squiggles which must have been very hard for Colonel James Welsh to transcribe.
