Colin asks if anybody has knowledge of the above at the British Library.

In his General Guide to the India Office Records, Moir states "O/5 : RECORDS RELATING TO EUROPEANS in INDIA 1702-1830".

31 volumes

"These consist of a series containing information about Europeans accused of misconduct in India [1766-1829], plus lists if European inhabitants in Bengal [1793-1830] Madras [1702-1828] Bombay [1718-1792]"

Sounds as though this might be rich hunting grounds, although there might be the odd family skeleton!
