I am searching for information on two families. That of my great
great
grandfather and his wife. LT.COL.HENRY MORLAND,late of 27th Madras
Infantry, and his wife. GEORGIANNA FRANCES ANN (ROOKE) Henry was born
c.1803 England to JAMES MORLAND and ELEANOR ALLISTON (not sure of
spelling here) Georgianna was born c.1823 England to CHAS,(CHARLES
?)Rooke and CHARLOTTE FRANCES (no maiden name) Henry and Georgianna
were married 30/6/1840 at Calcutta Cathedral and had 13 children that
I know of, one of them being my great grandfather. I don't know how
many of his siblilngs were born in India. One I am sure of and that
was Georgianna b. 11/7/1841 at Jalna. She died in 1842 (presumably at
Jalna) My great g/father, ARTHUR VIVIAN MORLAND , was born c.1855 and
there is now record of this birth in India according to the sources
that Ihave contacted. I have also applied to England, Middlesex to be
exact and also have a no result reply. I was wondering if anyone
might
have info on these two families. One of Henrys daughters, BELLA
b.27/9/1845 married a JOHN PEACH HOLDICH (HOLDICK) ) who I also
believe was in the British Army in India. Arthur Morland does not
appear in the 1881 British Census and I have not been able to locate
anyone who might have earlier census records As fellow genealogists,
you would know that any help that any could give me would be more
that
greatly appreciated. I live in Sydney Australia, which isn't a bad
thing, but restricts my overseas research thanx to any and all cheers
