Subject: {not a subscriber} Edward Whymper's Family
Edward Whymper (1840-1911) the mountaineer and first ascender of the
Matterhorn came from a large family of 9 boys and 2 girls. Four of
his
brothers lived and worked in India in the second half of the 19th
century. Below are the essential known details. Three brothers worked
as brewers at Murree (now in Pakistan), Mussoorie and Naini Tal, and
the other worked his way up the post office ladder. Any information
about them, their work, the places they lived or known family would
be
interesting.
Many thanks,
Ian Smith
