Dear Listers,
I am following up one of my ancestors, Thomas Darcy Morris, who was a Major
in the EIC at his death in 1835. Three of his sisters married officers in
the EIC - Anne Elizabeth Morris married Charles Hunter; Eliza Jemima Morris
married John Jopp and Hannah Amelia Morris married William Spiller. There
was another sister, Mary Ann Morris, and I'm still tracking her down. One of
his brothers, James Edward Gordon Morris (also an officer in the EIC)
married Mary Cunningham. I'm wondering if any other listers are also
following up the above people. Please let me know if you are.
Also does anyone know if it says "deceased" under the casualty heading of
the Musters and CAsualty Lists if that means he died from wounds in the
battle? So far we can't find any actual cause of death because everywhere it
seems to just say "deceased". We know he was in a battle a few days before
so one would assume he sustained injuries though this is not mentioned in
his service record - it also just says "deceased".
Thanks.
Dorothy Stephens
