I have written of this relative (my aunt) previously but have not asked this
specific question. My aunt, English-born Eleanor Francis Lambert nee
Habberfield-Short, was matron at Aitchison College, which I assume was in
Lahore in the 1940s as it is now. She went on a holiday trip that included
Srinagar, Kashmir, where she died following a series of hornet or wasp
stings. The telegram announcing her death reached us in England September
19, 1944 and I believe the date of death was September 10. My question is,
where would the records of her death be and where would she be buried?
Srinagar or Lahore?

If it is of relevance, her husband (or ex-husband) was William Herbert
Emsden Lambert who was in the Indian Army and by the time of her death they
were either divorced or separated.

Happy hunting!
