Hullo all,

I am currently writing a book about families in Lucknow in the nineteenth century and I am trying to trace the descendants of one of these families who were living in Aligarh in 1905. At that time the family were involved in a court case in Lucknow over an inheritance they were claiming. Although they did not win their case, it was simply 'not proven' and the transcript of the court proceedings indicates that they probably had a genuine claim. I have given below an extract from the original petition, dated November 1905, which lists the family members at that time. The main family that I would like to contact are the descendants of Khan Bahadur Moulvi Syed Zain-ul-Abidin of Aligarh. Alternatively, the descendents of Syed Wali Hasan, who was a Mukhtar at Aligarh at that time. So if there are any 'India List' members living in or near Aligarh who can help me to contact either family, I would be very grateful.

Many thanks,
