Elkhart Boy Drowns in Christiana Creek

Donald Wright Butcher, 13, son of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Butcher of Elkhart, was drowned at 5:45 o'clock yesterday afternoon in he gravel pit hole in Christiana creek in Elkhart. The boy had been playing along the water all afternoon and while trying to playfully kick water into his sister's face, backed into deep water. He was unable to swim but as he did not cry out, persons nearby thought that he was swimming. His body was recovered some time later in about 25 feet of water.

Besides his parent, the boy is survived by seven half-brothers and seven half-sisters.
