How much are dues? When/where are meetings? Does any one have info on Mathias Weidner? He built the first 3 story building in Connersville across from where the court house is now. He was a business man and "monied". When the Catholic Church first sent a Bishop to the area, Mathias met him at the river crossing and offered to buy membership in the Church but he was told it didn't work that way. His intent was to further his business dealings and Catholics would work as well as any. He then offered to let the Church use one of his properties when needed. It was located on the "northern edge" of town, that would be about 7th and Grand where Dr. Weaver had a dentist office for many years. He is buried in City Cemetery with a few other family members. John Weidner also lived in Connersville and related somehow to Mathias. John lived on Elephant Hill farm with his wife Jane Rogers, no children that I can find. John was refered to as "Uncle Johnny" by Wegerle's. Gramma W was a Greisheimer and she and John seemed to be close.
Mathias was a German Presbyterian, attended church on Fourth Street near river - haven't been able to find any of those church records.
So does any one have info ?
