Hey Don, in the 1870 census they didn't show a relationship with the head of household, or where parents were born. All it showed was; "Andrew 5 white male, born Illinois. In the 1880 census it shows both Mary Pugh and Andrew as "other" and it shows that Andrew's mother was born in Illinois, while it shows Abner and Mahala both born in Indiana. Andrew can't be their son. Mahala was born 1835 In Fountain County. Abner was born in Fountain County in 1840. They married in 1861 and were in Vermilion County, Illinois living in Butler Township in 1870. In 1880 they were still there. In 1894 Abner was married to Nancy Jane Rutledge in Vermilion County, Illinois. In the 1900 Census they were living in Sharon Township, Appanoose County, Iowa with 8 children. Those eight children all claimed that Nancy Jane was their mother. I'm going back to the Angel, Twins game and think about it.
