I checked out Stephen on the 1860 census and he was listed as being born in Ky. Most of my Beals were from NC and went to Oh and then Indiana.
My line runs thru Thomas Beals and Sarah Bowater,
He was a very well known minister of the Quaker faith. I do not have any Beals listed as being born in Ky. Not that some of them weren't I just don't have that info. Have you tried the Quaker books to see if your Stephen is listed there. I was hoping to help.
