Hi Debbie,
Although Phenis is not my direct line, I decend (by marriage) from
them. I'll share what I have on the Phenis name, and hope this helps
you.
John E. (or John F.) Phenis was born in 1854. He married Lorretta
(maiden name unknown). John & Lorretta had an infant son (b. 10 Sep
1889, d. 23 Sep 1889), and a daughter Lida, who lived until 4 Oct
1968. Lorretta died 13 Feb 1911. John Phenis then married Nancy
Louvesta (Ellis) Sellers [my grandmother] who had been living in
Brookville, IN. They lived in Darrtown, (Butler County) OH until
Nancy's death in 1927.
John Phenis died 4 Dec 1943, and is buried in Oxford Cemetery (Oxford,
OH), Sec. 50, lot 3, with his first wife Lorretta, infant son,
daughter Lida, and second wife Nancy.
I would love to see what you have on this family.
