Birthday Dinner
In honor of her 71st birthday, Mrs. J. A. FENSTERMAKER of Fulton was the
recipient of a surprise Sunday. A basket dinner was served and the afternoon
spent socially. Among the guests were Wm McCARTER, Mrs. LAFE FENSTERMAKER,
Mrs. GEORGE FUNK and family, FRANK BUCKINGHAM and family, Mrs. DAN HARTS,
BENTON FENSTERMAKER and family, IVAN FENSTERMAKER and family, Mrs. FISHER of
FINDLEY, Ohio and ALLEN LONG of Argos.

FAREWELL SURPRISE
Members of the Victoria Reading Circle gave Mrs. M. L. ZOOK a farewell
surprise at her home on East Ninth St., Monday evening. She left today for
Lafayette to spend the winter.

DEVON LITCHENWALTER went today to Lafayette where he will enter Purdue.
Mr. and Mrs. GEORGE V. DAWSON and Mrs. GUY BARR motored today to Akron.
Mrs. CHARLES WILLARD went today to Mishawaka for a short visit with friends.
EDWIN MC MAHAN returned today to Lafayette to resume his studies at Purdue.
FRED DEARDORFF has purchased an Oakland touring car of the local agents.
County Treasurer WILLAIM BIDDINGER made a business trip today to Indianapolis.
ARTHUR PENDELTON and PAUL BLACKETOR went today to Kokomo where they will be
employeed.
Mr. and Mrs. A.P. TUDOR and Mr. and Mrs. OMAR HOLMAN of Peru were in
Rochester today.
Corporal O.L. JOHNSON of the local recruiting station, made a business trip
today to Roann.
Mrs. JOHN STANLEY and Mrs. WILLIAM DERR went today to Indianapolis for a
short visit with friends.
ATTORNEY HARRY BERNETHA has returned from Indianapolis, where he visited ATTY
and Mrs. CARL WEYL.
Mrs. JAMES ENOCH and daughter Mis MERLE, went today to Edinburge for a short
visit with relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. R. M. EDWARDS have returned to their home in Indianapolis after
spending the past two weeks at the lake.
Miss ALICE STAHL, now in Colorado, is expected in Rochester in October to
visit her sister, Mrs. OMER BRICKEL, 508 Clay St.
Mrs. MARY HAYWARD and her sister, Mrs. ELLEN BAXTER, of Bremen are going to
West Chicago, Illinois, Wednesday to visit relatives.
Mrs. ENAS HOLLAWAY returned today to her home in South Bend after spending
the past few days with her mother, Mrs. S. BARBER.
Miss AUDRA APPLEMAN has resigned her position at Fristoe's five and 10 cent
store to work in the bookkeeping department of Beyers Brothers Co.
The condition of the daughter of county auditor A. E. SMITH, who was operated
upon for appendicitis, was found to be serious, but she is now better.
Mrs. CARRIE SWIFT and Mrs. MARY FISH of Chicago and Mr. and Mrs. GUY FISH and
daughter MARION of South Bend were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. P.J. STINGLY.

library school, University of Wisconsin, in Madison. Miss ANNA SEAMAN is in

HUSBAND TIES OF FARM LIFE: WIFE ASKS DECREE
Mrs. RUTH STROCK, of near Akron has field as suit for a divorce from WARDELL
W. STROCK, accusing him of cruel and inhuman treatment. They were married
August 12, 1916, and according to Mrs. STROCK, the husband soon after become
tired of farm life and moved to Rochester. She says that he is lazy and
refused to support her and their child, who was born while the husband was
visiting his relatives near Columbus, Ind. She wants a divorce and other
proper relief.

Miss AGATHA REISER 19, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. CHARLES L. REISER, of Kewanna
and FERNANDO J. BAIRD, 41, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. BAIRD, of Kewana, were
married Wednesday morning at the county clerk's office by Rev. A.S. WARRINER.
The groom has been a grain dealer in Kewana but the couple will make their
home in Earl Park, Ill.

Baptist association meet.
Mr. and Mrs. WM. H. DENISTON Tuesday attended the funeral of her
brother-in-law, C.B. FORGY at Disko.

Mr. and Mrs. M. A. ADAMS of Elberta, Michigan, went today to South Bend,
enroute to their home, after spending several weeks with relatives near here.
Miss JESSIE CROSBY, of South Bend, a former Rochester resident, was operated
on this week for appendicitis and according to word received by Rochester
friends, is getting along nicely.
Mr. and Mrs. JACOB EISENMAN and children, Mr. and Mrs. JOHN EISENMAN, Mr. and
Mrs. RAY BEATTIE, Mrs. MARGARET EISENMAN and Mrs. DAVID SHONK and
granddaughter motored Sunday to Star City and visited Mr. and Mrs. HENRY
STRATTON.
