Some info on Daniel Whitehead. Maybe this Jane Ireland was a sister of
Thomas Ireland not a daughter?
Daniel Whitehead Sr.'s Will as transcribed by Richard Alan McCool:
(Richard Alan McCool) will transcribe the will below as it appears in this
Record article, but note in advance that Daniel^1 Whitehead specifically
names his (2nd) wife Gene (Jane Ireland), son Daniel, son Jonathan, son
David and son Adam. The first three were sons by the previous wife, "the
daughter of Thomas Armitage." By the last wife, Jane Ireland, Whitehead had
two more sons, Adam and Thomas, and daughters Jemima and Elizabeth.
Thomas^2 Whitehead is not mentioned in the will, nor the daughters.

Record (Vol. 131:4:263-75), entitled "The Family of Daniel Whitehead: A
Century and a Half of Fact and Fiction." Another tour de force by the
inestimable Mr. Macy, this again delves into the unrecorded will of
Daniel^1 Whitehead and provides the documentation leading to his decision
that the last wife of Daniel^1 was Jane Ireland, not Jane Scidmore as is
frequently reported from compilations long-since superceded. Jane Ireland,
widow Whitehead, married second John Ingersoll.

DANIEL WHITEHEAD, 1603-1668, the grandfather of Mercy Whitehead, the third
wife of Capt. Joseph Sackett, was the founder of the Long Island branch of
the Whitehead family. He came to New England with the early colonists and
migrated to Long Island, N. Y., during or previous to the year 1647, under
which date his name appears among the proprietors of Hempstead. In 1650 he
purchased land in Smithtown, and later, in Oyster Bay, in Huntington, and
on Lloyds Neck. Riker says that "he located at Mespot Kills, was a
reputable citizen and one of the seven persons to whom the first Newtown
Patent was granted." He was chosen a town surveyor in 1668 and died on his
farm at Mespot Kills in November of that year. He was at the time of his
death one of the two Overseers, or Chief Magistrates of the town.
