I have noticed similar Greene Co., enlistments in the same company, particularly in the Indiana 97th & 32nd. Vol Inf. They each contain groups of friends & relative [brothers-in-law, cousins] in the same company.

Company C of the 43rd was organized by Elijah Edington of Jackson Twp., Greene Co. [see http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=message&r=rw&p=localities.northam.usa.states.indiana.counties.greene&m=2840 ], so having a number of men from Greene Co. makes some sense. The regiment roster shows 4 Ashcrafts, 6 Burchams, 4 Hardestys, etc. in Company C. Some of these are definitely Greene Co. men and the others are possible/probable.

The National Park Service's Civil War Soldiers & Sailors System [ http://www.civilwar.nps.gov/cwss/index.html ]has a large amount of data on those who served in the Civil War. It does not a have a lot of detail on each soldier/sailor, but it does give very basic info [state, first & last names, Company, rank in and rank out], plus you can download the complete roster of each of the regiments.
