THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Thursday, March 12, 1970, Volume LXXXXV, Number 29, Page 1, Column 7, “Lessie Oliphant, 87, Dies In Hospital.” [Transcribed 16-Nov-03 from IHS Microfilm on file at the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library, S. Franklin Street, Bloomfield, IN.]

Lessie OLIPHANT, 87-year-old resident of the Antioch community, died at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Freeman Green County Hospital at Linton.

The deceased was born on March 29, 1882, the son of Frank and Mary T. (BYERS) OLIPHANT. He was preceded in death by his wife, Meadie.

Surviving are two brothers, Carl OLIPHANT, Bloomington, and Claude OLIPHANT, Coal City, and three sisters, Mrs. Charity FODDRILL and Miss Dora OLIPHANT, both of Bloomfield and Mrs. Grace GREENWOOD, Jasonville.

Funeral services were conducted at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home here with Rev. Charles STRICKLER officiating. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery.
