I found R. G. Walker's obituary dated April 5, 1901, page 1 in the HAMILTON COUNTY LEDGER. Briefly abstracted, it says he died in the home of his daugher, Mrs. John Eason, at age 82y 7m 16d on Tuesday, April 2, 1901. He is buried in Spannuth Cemetery. His wife (not named)predeceased him. Survivors include five children: W. R. Walker, Mrs. Cy Stephenson, Mrs. John Eason, Phillip and H. O. Walker. He was born in Georgia and emigrated to the North in 1865 and lived since that time.

I checked Spannuth Cemetery listings and found the following listing:

R. G. Walker d. 4-2-1901, age 83y 7m 15d

Other Walkers in the listings for Spannuth include:

Elizabeth Walker 1868-1945
Fletcher Walker 1895-1904
Justana Walker d. 0-25-1898, age 72y 4m 19d
Philip Walker 1867-1915

Spannuth Cemetery is located in Delaware Township on the west side of Allisonville Road between 141st St. and 146th Street. It is also known as Weaver Cemetery. (There is another Weaver Cemetery in Hamilton County, so don't get the two confused.)

I found the obituary of William R. Walker in the NOBLESVILLE DAILY LEDGER, dated February 27, 1926, page 1. Briefly abstracted, he died February 27 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Stephen Males. He was to be buried in Crownland Cemetery in Noblesvilles (on Monument St.) He was 81 years old. His wife (not named) died four years earlier (1922). Following children survive: Mrs. Males, Fred Walker, Mrs. Maude White, and Mrs. George Ware. He was born in Georgia but located in Hamilton County when he was 20. In his early days, he taught school. Then he farmed the rest of his life.

I checked Crownland Cemetery listings and found this listing:

Buried 3-1-1926 W. R. Walker in section 2, lot 8, GS 11 (remarks section have the word Confederate)

There is an Ursula Walker buried in section 2, lot 6, GS 9 on February 8, 1922. This could be his wife.

I found her obituary in the NOBLESVILLE DAILY LEDGER, dated February 7, 1922, page 1. Briefly abstracted, she was the wife of W. R. Walker and died at home on February 6. She was buried in the Crownland Cemetery. Husband and the following children survive: Fred Walker, Mrs. Charles Rayle, Mrs. Archie White, Mrs. Stephen Males, and Mrs George Ware. She was the daughter of Alfred Burroughs.

I hope this helps in your family research. If you would copies of the full obituaries, please contact the Hamilton East Public Library at If you can accept a PDF attachment, they can be scanned and sent to you via email at no charge.
