Hello, Hoosier descendants,

I returned last week from a family gathering in Hancock County. You Tuttle people may be interested to hear about the Tuttle orchard in Vernon Township. It is a lovely orchard that has been there for a long time. Mostly apples. Some families go and pay to pick fruit. There is a little store with lovely fresh fruit. They have apple cider snow cones that are super good. If you come to the area, don't miss the snow cones.

A big thrill of my trip was acquiring a picture of my father, Paul Shore, with some other school boys in Vernon Township. The photo was taken at the school, although you can't see much of the school in the photo. Daddy was born in 1898, and he is maybe 8 or 10 years old in the picture, so that gives you an idea of when the picture was taken. On the back is written: "School house where Ray went to school. Dick Hartman bought and made a home of it. Raymond and Virginia Royney bought it. Ray Lain, John Whitaker, Arnold Tuttle, Rufus Humfleet, Paul Shore, Roy Tuttle, Forrest Lane, Chester Humfleet."

I am very happy, because it is the first picture that I have ever had of my father as a little boy. If anyone here has a relation in the photo and wants a copy of it, I will share.

I wonder if there exists a picture of the girls in the school, too. Anyone have one?

Jean
