My ggrandfather was named John RILEY. According to my grandfather's birth
certificate, John RILEY was born in 1879 in "Seymoor", Indiana. According
John's marriage license for his marriage to Mary PLATTEN (they were married
in Chicago), he was born in 1880. This is about all we know about
John. (If we have the correct John RILEY, he was shot and killed in
Borger, TX in 1927, after leaving my ggrandmother shortly after the birth
of my grandfather. Also, if this is the correct one, his family was living
in West Virginia at the time of his death.)

I have no idea how to continue looking for information; any hints as to
where to look next would be greatly appreciated.
