Hello list!
My wife's family hails through Knox Co. via several lines: Price, Gamble, Wilmore, Fortenburgh, et.al.
My first query concerns the Fortenburgh line. My wife's ggg grandmother was Mariah "Maria" Fortenburgh, daughter of Henry Fortenburgh it is believed. She married Jacob A. Wilmore on 9 Jan 1820 in Knox Co., IN. They lived and died in Harrison Twp in Knox Co. and are buried in the McCoy Cem. #1. I cannot find ANY Fortenburghs in ANY census...1820 through 1860! Her headstone says she was 74 yrs when she died, 4 Apr 1865, which would put her birth about 1791 we believe in Germany. Can ANYONE help on this line??
