While out shopping at antique malls recently I purchased a rather unique =
reference book.
Title: The Semi-Centennial Alumni Record of Purdue University Edited by =
Jack Edward Walters, May 1924.
In 1924, Purdue Univ. had been in existence for 50 years and this is a =
record of the many graduates, indexed and recorded in several ways.
First there are photos & bios of the President and Board of Trustees and =
than a short history of Purdue written by the Librarian. There are =
photos of each building that was on campus in 1924.
There is a complete listing of officers and staff of Purdue 1865-1924.=20
The major part of the publication is called the records of the alumni of =
Purdue Univ.
These would be "records" that were returned to the Alumni Department and =
contained the following info:
Name in full
profession or occupation
date and place of birth
education with all degrees received
marriage with date
various occupations with dates
activities while in the University
War Record
membership into national known societies
fraternities and clubs
publications or inventions
Child or Children (with b. &/d. dates)
Business Address and=20
Present Address.
For each alumni who returned no record his name in full profession or =
occupation, class of graduation and business and residence address is =
given.
Alumni who have died are denoted by an asterisk in front of their names. =
Name in full, class of graduation, occupation or profession and address =
at the time of their death are given for each.
Alumni whose address has been lost have been denoted by (dagger). The =
name in full, class of graduation, occupation or profession and address =
last known are given for each.
Each married woman is listed with her married name, with her maiden name =
as her middle married name.
This listing goes from page 69-548
The listing from 549-650 is "Former Students of Purdue University" For =
each living and known former student of P.U. the name, class, occupation =
and address is given.
On page 651 there is a "Class List of Graduates" =20
Starting with 1875 when one person graduated the classes are given by =
year & by department. That listing ends on page 684
On page 685 the "geographical List of Alumni" starts and lists graduates =
by State and by country. Each state is divided by county is there is a =
sizable amount of graduates. The graduate's name is given along with =
the year they graduated and the department they graduated from.=20
The last item to be included is a listing of Purdue Alumni Associations =
that existed in 1924... all over the USA.=20
I will gladly do look-ups in this resource.
respectfully submitted, marge p. =20
