And I am here to tell you that at least to some of the families in the
Akron, Beaver Dam, Mentone area of Kosciusko County, green bell peppers are
mangos. I was in my upper twenties before I realized that my Grandmother,
and great-aunts were wrong. Those green things that they grew in their
gardens, sliced into wedges, and served on the tray along with cukes, green
onions, bread and butter pickles, and red radishes were peppers not mangos.
