Subject: [INKOSCIU] help fight against computer viruses
Date: Fri, 1 Feb 2002 06:59:14 -0800
Hello,
It seems that lately I have had more virus warnings from my detection system than ever. I was sent this advice on how to help fight computer viruses and it made sense to me, so I thought I would share it with all. I hope you don't mind. I felt it was important to protect our genealogy information that we have worked so hard on.
In the address book of your email account, type in as a new contact **!0000 You can put this as the email address and the persons name. Once you have this in the address book it will appear as the first address of the list of your contacts. This is a bogus address and can not be sent therefor, it is not sent to your list of contacts.
I can not say for sure that I know this works but I know a lot of people who have done this and they say they have not spread any viruses that have gotten past their antivirus system. I could see no harm in trying. If anyone knows a reason that we should not do this please let me know.
Best regards,
Brenda
