States Oldest Barber Dies

Whiting, Charley FIERES, 81 years old, recognized as the oldest active barber in the state,
died at his home here yesterday after an illness of six weeks.

FIRERES, born in Germany on August 3, 1853, came to the United Statrs when 16 years old
and had been in the barber trade since he was 19.

He first practiced his trade in Pennsylvania and came to Whiting 38 years ago. His shop in
Whiting was located at 1809 New York Avenue.

Mrs. Lyda NUNDORF both of Whiting

Mrs. Dell MYERS of East Chicago

Two grandchildren: Birja NUNDORT

Dale MYERS

Services tomorrow at the Schlater Funeral Home with Rev. Horn, of ther First Methodist
Church, officiating. Burial in the Elmwood Cemetery.

The residence in Whiting is at 1806 Cleveland Avenue.
