M. DALE FRANKLIN

AVOCA – M. Dale Franklin, 64, Avoca, died at 4 p.m. Saturday at his
residence following a four-year illness.

Born July 9, 1925, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Ben and Bessie
(Kirkman) Franklin. HE married Ruth Evelyn Prater July 30, 1946, and she
preceded him in death. He married Carol Ann Nobbe Curren Oct. 9, 1976,
and she survives.

He was a retired metallurgist at Central Foundry and of Pentecostal
faith. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Gillen
Post 33, American Legion and Oolitic Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Surviving with his wife are two sons: Jeff Franklin, Bloomington, and
Joel Dale Franklin, Columbia City, Ind.; two daughters: Mrs. Greg (Julia
E.) Cate, Marathon, Fla., and Mrs. Walter (Jane Ann) McGill, Bedford;
four grandchildren; one sister: Mrs. Fred (Lois) Turner, Taveres, Fla.,
and one brother: Roy Franklin, Avoca.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Day & Carter Mortuary,
the Rev. David Franklin officiating. Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery
with graveside military rites accorded by members of Gillen Post 33,
American Legion.

Friends may call at the mortuary from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from
9 a.m. Wednesday until the service.
